Tornados
Tornados
by A-Man Future Meteorologist
(Scroll down for Weather)
Tornados are big swirling funnels that only develop in severe thunderstorms or supercell storms. Storm chasers and meteorologists chase tornados and collect data. The data tells the meteorologists how fast the wind is and how strong the tornado is. Tornados mostly happen in the middle of the USA called tornado alley. The states that are in tornado alley are South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas, but every state has had a tornado. About 1000 tornados happen in the USA in a year.

The tornado scale is called the Fujita scale

EF0      <73 mph
EF1      73 to 112
EF2      113 to 157
EF3      158 to 206
EF4      207 to 260
EF5      261 to 318
